When Tom retired from the Air Force in 1981 , he received a gift of a photography workshop from his wife Leslie.
There was something about that workshop in Yosemite Valley with Ernie Braun that captured Tom's creative being.
He continued taking workshops with Ernie and started taking photography classes at Merced College. In 1985, he completed an Associate in Arts degree in photography.
He continues to be captivated by all aspects of nature photography. More recently, Tom has developed a great interest in Table-Top photography.

Tom also has a BS in Computer Science and travels extensively helping a major printer with their software needs.
Tom's other interests include community service and cooking. He's a long-time member of the Castle-Atwater Kiwanis Club, the Merced Camera Club, and a past member of the Merced Area United way. A graduate of Leadership Merced, he continues to actively support the program.
