Webmaster's Column—April 2008
Warm weather training, I love it! Two-hour runs, 4-hour runs, 92
degrees. Bring it on! I drank a whole gallon of Gatorade at the
Relay for Life last weekend over a period of 4 1/2 hours. Don't forget
to bring enough fluids with you on your training runs. I take salt
tablets if I'm going to be out over 2 hours.
Thanks to all who participated in the Relay for Life. Linda
Gonzales, Franz Moosbauer and Kathy Wright deserve much of the credit for
setting up the site and doing the cleanup. The MRC team raised $2870
for the American Cancer Society. Leading fundraisers were Linda
Gonzales at $390, Gordon Wilkinson at $360 and Kevin Olds with $330.
Overall the Relay for Life raised almost $200,000.
The next event on our calendar is the series of Summer Track Meets in
June. These are all-comer events for all ages, and they're free! Then
there is the Udder Run in Hilmar in June, and the Run for Independence in
Atwater in July. These two races are flat and fast. Our last
summer event is the Amigo de Oro in Mariposa in August. This is a
beautiful and challenging mountain road-race. I hope to see you out there!
Go Long,
Dave Simenson
