These commands are used to change the appearance of your browser. Removing the check mark means the option is not to be used
Show ToolBar, this option decides if the line of buttons across the top of the browser window are displayed. IMHO I like home and stop too much to remove the buttons.
Show Location is a rather handy option are well. Rather than having to go to the file menu and "Open" a location, just type the URL in the location window.
Show Directory options can be accessed via the directory menu. Personally, I like the larger screen I get when this option is off.
Auto Load Images, if unchecked will just show the text of a web page without any graphics. To load a graphic after to option is used, just click on the graphic. This can complicate life for some web sufers since buttons and some icons won't be loaded.
