Netscape Gold Online Editing
The
newer versions of Netscape allow online editing that can be very convenient
for quick web page modifications on the fly or for developing complete
web pages.
Here are a few notes to get you
started....
Building the Web Page
- The Online Editor is activated
from the menu by clicking your left mouse button on file
and then new document.
- Or ...You can make modifications
to the current web page by clicking your left mouse button on the edit
icon that looks like a pencil.
- Netscape provides a source of
templates that could prove to be very useful to you...try the following

Publishing Your Web Page
- When your page is complete it
is time to "publish"...short for copy your file to the server
at Elite.Net.
- This is done by clicking on
the Publish Icon that
looks like a sheet of paper with a lightning bolt emerging from it or from
the menu use file
and then publish.
The picture shown below is the next window you will see.
- You do need to tell the publishing
software the location to put your file, your User Name to Elite.Net, and
your password. This is done as follows...
- for location use... ftp://www.elite.net/usr/local/www/home/<your
login name>/www
Note if your email address was jack@elite.net then you login or username would be just jack.
- For Example (Old accounts):
ftp://www.elite.net/home/wwwroot/home/lathropj/www
ftp://www.elite.net/usr/local/www/home/lathropj/www
- Second Example for recently added accounts
notice the /l/ is the first letter of the account name. :
ftp://www.elite.net/home/wwwroot/home/l/lathropj/www
- Example for VIP domains hosted by elite.net
ftp://ftp.elite.net/usr/local/www/pages/xxxxxx.com/
Replace the xxxxxx.com with your registered domain name
- for User Name use...your
normal Elite.Net login name
- for Password use...your
normal Elite.Net Password
See the picture below for additional
information showing the field locations for entering the transfer location,
User Name, and password. Netscape will always show your Password as "*********".

Click on OK
and your new web page is on the way to the world.
You can also make these settings
by clicking Options
and then Editor Preferences
to get to the following window:

Don't forget to Save Options
or you will probably have to add all this stuff again.
