Elite.Net is pleased to announce that it has received final modem code from the Lucent Technologies Remote Access Business Unit that supports the ITU V.90 modem standard for 56K access. All digital lines 357-0390 (in Atwater) and 381-0882 (in Merced) now support V.90 modems that have been upgraded to the latest V.90 firmware.
Most 56K connections to Elite.Net are between 44000 bits per second (bps) and 50000 bps. If you are getting 56K connections below this range, then you should check out the phone connections to your computer; especially make sure that you do not have any other devices on your telephone line that might interfere with your modem.
If you currently have a 3COM/USR x2 modem, you must upgrade it to the V.90 code before it will work at 56K speeds with our equipment. Visit the 3COM/USR 56k site to find out how to upgrade your 3COM/USR x2 modem.
All other modems with current V.90 code should work with our equipment.
